Primary responsibilities:
Design, development, documentation, integration, testing, and manufacturing support of various RF modules and systems, with the main emphasis on solid-state RF power amplifier modules and systems, operating at frequencies ranging from L-band through Ka-band. The candidate will work with other engineers, managers, marketing, production control, quality, and manufacturing groups, to develop and manufacture new products based on customer specifications and market requirements. The candidate may be required to lead an RF design team with a focus on design to cost and schedule goals.
Responsibilities will include, but are not limited to:
- RF circuit design & analysis
- Supporting the development of system architecture
- Defining RF hardware design requirements based on system-level specifications
- Testing and debugging RF modules and systems
- Preparing technical documentation
- Leading multi-disciplinary engineering teams on new technology development
- Master’s Degree in Electronic or Electrical Engineering in a field of radio communication
- Thorough knowledge of electro-magnetic and RF and Microwave theory
- Ten years of experience with RF and microwave design, including RF power amplifiers design from the component level, module or sub-assembly level, up to RF system level in the aerospace, defense, and/ or microwave industry
- Experience with designs for frequencies up to 40 GHz
- Knowledge of GaN devices technology is required
- Fluent in creating RF power budgets, working with Smith charts and matching techniques, filtering techniques for emissions control, and other related skills for successful RF design
- Proficiency with schematic Capture and PCB Layout tools such as ORCAD and PADS
- Strong knowledge of RF PCB layout techniques
- Familiar with prime power budgets, thermal designs, and protection circuits
- Strong knowledge of automated parametric control circuits design (ALC, AGC loops, analog and digital)
- Highly proficient in using all RF instrumentation (spectrum analyzers, network analyzers, RF signal generators, RF power meters, etc.)
- Strong knowledge of passive waveguide and coaxial components theory and practical applications
- Familiarity with the MIL-STDs is essential
- Good interpersonal skills and experience working in a team environment
